400 Years of the KJV Bible - 7/8/2011
On the 30th July we celebrated the 400th year anniversary of the King James Version Bible by hosting an exhibition on bible history. Tristan McDonald presented us with an interesting and informative talk on the history and characters that brought us the early versions of the English Bible, right through to the version commissioned by King James , completed in 1611 and widely favored by Christians 400 years later.
Here are a couple of photos of the exhibition:

The earliest versions from Hebrew scrolls through to the Latin translations and earliest English translation.

At the other end of the timeline we have a Bishop's Bible and finally the KJV in varying formats from paper to modern electronic versions.
Church Maintenance Work - 13/3/2011
You may have noticed a small addition to the outside of The Tabernacle:
Work has started on the pointing and gutter maintenance hence the large amount of scaffolding which apart from the entrance now covers the entire front of the Church.
But even better news is that our central heating woes should be solved by next Sunday as the offending unreliable boiler has been replaced by a shiney new one and all that remains to be done is some pipe-work to finish the installation. No more cold meetings God willing!
Aid for Gambia - 1/2/2010
The Tabernacle Church (opposite ESK Hastings) held their Harvest Festival in aid of the poor and needy people in The Gambia which is on the west coast of Africa.
Pastor Norman Clark donated the monies, medical and other needy supplies to Mac McDonald who accepted the gifts on behalf of Seedlings for Christ Charity.
This is the third year that The Tabernacle Church, under the leadership of Minister Eddy Weir, has supported the charity and Seedlings would like to express its thanks to all those generous people who fund raised and collected items on behalf of the Church.
Seedlings For Christ has been travelling to The Gambia and other parts of Africa and Europe for the last ten years or so. Although only a small charity it tries to spread the gospel message to the people of the world that would not necessarily hear the good news of Christ. It also distributes medical and school supplies, gives monies and food supplies to the poor families and helps in the building of small schools and churches.
